You must apply before turning 31 or 36 in AEST or AEDST. The time zone matters even if you apply outside Australia.

China, India, and Vietnam passport holders must use the official pre-application ballot before they can apply.

Subclass 462 extra requirements (official)

  • Functional English. Evidence can include a passport from the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, or Republic of Ireland, approved English study, or a test result within 12 months.
  • Education requirement is country specific. Many countries require a tertiary qualification or 2 years of undergraduate study. Brazil and India require at least 2 years of post-secondary study.
  • Letter of support required for: Ecuador, Greece, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Malaysia (Good Conduct Certificate), Mongolia, Peru, Poland, San Marino, Slovenia, Thailand, Turkiye.
